Hospital Beds Coverage Guidelines

Hospital Beds are Covered When Prescribed by a Physician and If the Patient Meets ANY of the Following Criteria:

1. Patient Requires Positioning of the Body in Ways Not Feasible with an Ordinary Bed

2. Patient Requires Positioning of the Body in Ways Not Feasible with an Ordinary Bed to Alleviate Pain

3. Patient requires the Head of the Bed to be elevated more than 30 degrees most of the time due to COPD, CHF, or Aspiration

4. Patient Requires Traction That Can Only Be Applied to a Hospital Type Bed

5. Patient Requires a Bed Height Different than a Fixed Height Hospital Bed to Permit Transfers to the Chair, Wheelchair, or Standing Position

6. Patient Requires Frequent Changes in Body Positions And/or Has an Immediate Need for a Change in Body Position
